Incoming.......Omega Planet Ocean 600M 42mm
Well after much debate and vacillating back and forth, I FINALLY made the plunge and purchased a BNIB Omega PO 600m 42mm from a Trusted Seller here on the forum. I got it at a great price and traded in one of my Breitling to offset some of the pain.
It bares mentioning, I was really concerned with the case thickness as everyone is well aware of, so it does not bare repeating. But I have to say that the main decisions for pulling the plug were two-fold. First, it was increasingly hard to find a well cared for previous model 2500-series PO, especially a 2500D model (just to obtain a thinner case size). And the more important factor was getting into a new timepiece with the newest 8500 movement. Obviously things like a ceramic bezel and improved bracelet didn't hurt the decision making either. Sooooooo......to that end, I am in day two of ownership and things are looking & feeling great. Bracelet was a piece of cake to adjust (2-links removed on each side) and so far I am very pleased. This will be may daily wearer and my SubC will be worn during casual use and on weekends. Hope to keep everyone posted as I wear and enjoy. I want to thank those that helped me make the decision, both in threads and in PM's. Your pros/cons were greatly appreciated and what make these forums great! Happy holidays to all and enjoy a couple of pics. |

Thanks everyone. It was an important purchase because I can't keep switching out of timepieces (or at least that is what I keep tell my wife), so the input from others over the past several weeks and perusing the forums was critical for me.
I am on day 4 (I know it may be a bit premature) with the PO and I am loving it. It is such a beautiful timepiece. The fit and finish is spectacular and the bracelet is the BOMB....it is so gorgeous, even the newer style clasp is very classy and understated. We all know there is a ton of talk about the two concerns: weight and case thickness. Is it wee bit heavy yes. Is it a tad thick yes. BUT it is not over the top by any means. Coming off owning two Breitlings; the king of timepieces of weight and bulkiness, it is no heavier and bulkier than my two previously owned Breitlings. It bares noting that I weighed the PO and my most recent addition my Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5. The PO weighs in at 181 grams and the Tag (which is consider a very slim watch) weighs in at 162 grams. So IMO the weight is probably a bit disproportional due to the case size FWIW. I'll have to weigh my SubC when I get around to it for giggles. Anyhow, thanks so much again for everyone's input and Happy Holidays to All |

That is a monster of a watch at its price. Practically unbeatable at 4.5k in my book. Big congrats!

Congrats, the 8500 is a great watch. A coworker owns one and even though I sold mine I lust after his and holding it in hand being a Rolex owner I somehow get this sense of higher quality in the Omega. The matte grey bezel is a nice touch.
One thing this watch has that the older 2500s can't touch, jump hour setting. It's like having a GMT when traveling. I miss that unless of course one specifically owns a modern GMT watch. |

Congrats, great looking diver. On a related note I wish Omega would release a PO 100-150 meters, no HEV or clear caseback, as it is I feel it is too tall for me. Still stunning though.

I agree. The HEV is not a big deal to me nor is the clear caseback, but they could scale it down a bit because a good deal of us do not use it as a true dive watch. It is a beautiful timepiece and has nice wrist presence. Only wish it was a tad less thick. But I am getting used to it as each day goes by. Believe it or not, it has only gained 2-seconds in over a week. I can't believe how accurate it has been.....very nice to see. |

Congratulations. That's one of the most versatile Omegas out there, in my opinion. It looks great on a bracelet or a rubber strap and can be worn with anything!

Beauty. Have worn my 2500 for the last 2-3 years as my daily, never get tired of it. Love the 'heft' and look of the watch. Enjoy!
