Stiff Bezel

Hello folks, I have just bought a 1997 16613 "blue kit" bi metal submariner date.
No servive records came with it, just certificate. I do not think it has ever been serviced and am wondering if this could be the reason why the gold bezel is all but impossible to rotate.
Anyone had similar issues in the past ?

Welcome to the Forum!

Take it to a local watchmaker, unless you can do it, and remove the bezel. You have the bezel, spacer ring, and a clicker. It may need a little TLC..

Probably just needs cleaning. Same issue with my older Sub 14060. Could barely turn that bezel, Watchmaker cleaned it as part of a full service and its perfect now.

Thanks for that, I was hoping it wasn't going to be terminal.

Put in in a container with joy and let it soak for an hour. Rinse it off good by running water or in container of clean water and it should free up the bezel. I just did that and it worked. Saw it on the Internet.

Not sure I'd do that on a near 20 year old watch without service record.

Maybe get it pressure tested first then have watchmaker clean?

Yea I'd be hesitant to soak a 20 year old watch with probably dried gasket seals. Still quite unlikely for water to get in but I'd definitely be safe.

I believe this would be prudent.

You can remove the bezel if you know what you are doing. It probably has a bunch of crud underneath the bezel and ring. Maybe need a new click spring as well.

Best to have someone experienced do it. Gold is softer than ss so I wouldn't try the knife trick.
