Genuine Bezel on 16610 Sub...your opinion?
Hello experts. I picked up a 16610 a couple of months ago for a song. Overall, it is in great shape, but has obviously been polished. Keeps excellent time, have had the movement inspected (cursory for authenticity), and had it pressure tested. One question I have is whether or not the bezel that is on it - along with the insert - are authentic...I didn't have any reservations when I bought it, but this is also the first sub I have ever personally owned. The bezel feels sharp and crisp, however, the divots or grooves appear to be more "broad" and closer together than what I have seen in some other photos from similar and/or exact models.
I have provided some images below, first of my watch (which is a D-Serial), and followed by some comp images of other sub bezels (these images start with the green LV sub). Please let me know your thoughts? If it is not authentic, what is the cost to replace both the insert and the retainer ring? I am not wearing mine today to compare....but The Rolex font looks odd to me in your 2nd pic.
Maybe it's the angle, but the "R" looks different. I am not trying to scare you, but post another clear shot of the dial. |

I would like a clearer shot of the whole dial, too.

The bezel insert looks crispy fresh for a watch that has polished hardware. I would say at the very least the insert has been replaced, possibly the bezel itself as the spacing and size of the cutouts seem a little odd compared to mine.

Not sure your watch is authentic, period. Let's see more pics of the whole watch. Dial, bracelet, clasp. The words "Orig. Rolex Design" on 2 pics of your black dial Sub look like 2 different fonts. No disrespect, but something is fishy here.

Unfortunately, I was starting to wonder as well; i will attach some pics later in the week; I dropped it by an authorized Rolex watchmaker...pretty sure he will tell me the same.

Keep us posted. From what I see, looks a little suspect. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Yeah the R in ROLEX is wrong the E and X look wrong to can't tell from pictures if the L is but it does look a little off. It looks thinner in places it should be thicker.
and I really think you are using a couple in not at least two different photos where it shows the ORIG ROLEX DESIGN. because the R's are different in Picture 4 compared to pics 6 and 7 and is it me or does it look like in picture 6 and 7 have a green bezel insert compared to the others that look black??? its smells like sushi…. |

The X doesn't appear as bad as the R and O on the dial. The R and O look too narrow.
