Planet ocean winding sound
I have a planet ocean cal 2500 and when I go to manually wind after a few turns or so I hear a zipping sound like the mainspring is slipping. Is this normal? Watch seems to perform fine.

I have the same watch, I hear nothing out of the ordinary. More of a winding feel, as the spring is filling up. I'll have to listen very closely for any other sounds. Mine runs fine also, although I don't wear it but once or twice a month.

I'm wondering if its a mainspring issue or if its just a mechanism to prevent over winding.

It my understanding that once the main spring is fully would it activates a type of clutch that prevents it from being over wound. I wind mine until I hear this sound then stop.
That may be what you're hearing.. |

My Seamaster Diver has the same feature. Once you hear the sound you refer to, the mainspring is fully wound. |
