Hello Everyone,

New to the forum. Great to see what looks to be an excellent forum. For the past 8 years i have been admiring haute horlogerie but the price tags associated has been out of my league. I am very practical so education, job, car, apartment, and all the foundations had to be in order before i could start realistically thinking about a real watch. I was thinking of just settling on a hamilton jazzmaster 41mm but as i will most likely use this watch at least for the next 10-20 years i might as well go all out to start with.

I plan to use the watch daily and for everything apart from hospital work, surfing, and heavy work at the gym. Looking for a quality timepiece that is subtle, classic design, usable with jeans and a white t-shirt to tuxedo, and be durable enough to stand the test of time without breaking my bank with maintenance costs and excessive sign of wear. I moonlight as a search and rescue DOC so some bangs on helicopter cannot be avoided. At the moment i am using my trusty cheap Casio G-shock DW-5600E that has served me well and held up to surprising amounts of abuse including a very hard direct hit onto dry reef this summer in indonesia. (Will not be taking rolex surfing .....)

I am rapidly approaching my 30th this June, and all of the above are now in order. After scouring catalogues, forums, interrogating colleagues and friends: i have settled on the Rolex Submariner (no-date). Granted, i need to make a trip to an AD asap to try on the 114060, here is my choice:

Rolex Submariner 14060m
Priority 1: 2 line
Priority 2: 4 line with rehaut engrave and if at all possible serial with parachrom spring.
Condition: As mint as possible with box, papers, tags, service records.

As far as i can tell price seems to be around 4500-5000 USD

I would warmly welcome advice on reliable sellers that are worth looking into and any other advice or comments regarding my choice, durability, and or other similar options i might have overlooked.
Two sellers i have noticed that might have in stock are "alexthegreat" and takuya. Please comment if you have experience with these two.

Thank for you reading this long introduction

Best Regards
Magnus
