Hello from Md. I have a question about a watch for sale here.

Hi, I'm about to enter the world of Rolex, with a new Submariner. I have a Tag Aquaracer now, and it is beautiful, but has always been kind of bad at keeping time. I loose a couple of minutes every month. So, I'm ready for a real chronometer. The prices I've seen are $8550, from an authorized dealer. Along the way, I was pointed here. I have some concerns about one of the ads here. The member is a pledge member, with 8000 + post's. The watch looks great, and the price is right, but, it has been repeatedly bumped since October. Is there a reason? Should I be concerned? Is there a giant possibility of getting a counterfeit watch here? Anyway, it's a pleasure to be here.

Do a search on Trusted Sellers and pick one and contact them. Have a conversation with them and see if that helps. If not, contact a different Trusted Seller. TRF has made the job of buying, selling and trading very simple for us. I would say at times maybe too simple for my bank account. All the information you need is here on TRF.

Welcome to the Forum!

If you have a question about a particular seller, research the "who's who section" or plain out ask about the seller in that section. Anyone with 8k posts is not a regular troller in the forum.

First dont read to much in being a chronometer, a chronometer is just that the movement has been tested by the COSC.And after testing over 15 days the bare uncased movement performed to a Average of between -4 to +6 seconds over any 24 hour period. Chronometer certification is for the time of testing only, today most all modern days movements with careful regulation could match the Swiss COSC test. Dont know what watch it is being sold by the seller but I would doubt if any seller on the forum would sell anything that was not 100% authentic as they have too much to lose.

Thank you Padi. Learn something new every day. So, I guess my Tag loosing 2-3 min's. a month, isn't so bad. I've learned to not be so "OCD" about time, with my Tag. I more or less generalize time these days. i.e. 9:57 means 10,

Things get bumped because they are expensive and don't sell immediately, are over priced, or not in demand. Generally it's not because it's fake from a trusted seller. Typically a high count poster has been here for a minute, but go to the "who's who" thread. Typically every seller also has real life feedback from all their transactions.

Thank you so much, guy's. I've already learned a lot, in the first few days here. I usually have bad buyers remorse, and my wife know's this. So, she is pretty much putting her foot down, and demanding we first visit an authorized dealer. I'm lucky to be near so many, in the Washington area.

I have another question for you folks; Why does every post I've made, have to wait for approval? Are these practices in place, to keep out spammers? No big deal, just used to instant gratification.

Forums in general have some sort of transitional period for new members. I am not sure what it does or why it's still done. Typically the first thread or two you make gets vetted. Posts might get screened once or twice. Again, not sure what it accomplishes in this virtual world we all live in. waiting a few days for all access or getting it on day 1 doesn't really mean it's safer.

The first few posts from new members are usually automatically put on hold for moderation. They have to be vetted manually by moderators and this can take anywhere from a minute to a few hours, depending on mod availability. It's to keep out spammers and trolls.

Welcome to TRF. A long timer here with 8000+ posts and whose name comes up a lot is virtually no risk as far as a non genuine watch is concerned. Too much to lose.

Probably overpriced. As at the right price a sub would generally sell pretty quickly. Complete shot in the dark there though. Don't even know the watch.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I went to Lilenquist & Beckstead tonight, and purchased the Submariner date. I got a great deal, and they are going to service my Tag for a discounted rate. They took off 6%. And from what I'm hearing, that's pretty good.
