114270 bracelet on a 14060
Hey everyone, looking for a bit of help/advice.
I recently picked up both a 114270 and 14060 off WUS. Based on my research of both pieces, as well as the sellers, I'm reasonably confident both pieces are authentic, though I'm bringing them to a watchmaker that services Rolex later this week to verify. Anyways, the 114270 came on a bracelet, which I switched out for a leather band. Then I bought the 14060 as head-only, and put the 114270 bracelet on it. However, there's a noticeable mismatch in the height of the lugs and the SEL of the bracelet. Near as I can tell, the bracelet is a 78690, though i can't find any stamp or serial number indicating that on the bracelet itself. Based on this thread - http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=103838 - it looks like the 78690 should be interchangeable with the 91350 sub bracelet. So in that case, why the mismatch? It doesn't really bother me, per se, just trying to better understand what I currently have. And if it looks like either watch is not genuine, that would be disappointing but I would like to know that as well. Here are a few pics, any insights appreciated! |

No, you are misreading the other thread.
A stamped end-link bracelet (93150) will fit a variety of different cases because the stamped links wrap around the case. An SEL bracelet needs a case that has the machined lip on the backside to register/locate the endlink, unlike the stamped end-links. The two bracelets are not interchangeable. The 14060 does not have a machined lip on the backside to fit any SEL bracelet without major compromises..

Adding to Larry's point above, the lug hole location / design of the 114270 bracelet is different from other SEL bracelets, so don't expect it to fit smoothly on your 14060.
