Sell the 16610 for a 16610 LV?

or should I just keep the 16610? I've been wanting a LV for a while but after wearing the regular 16610 I'm thinking there might not be a huge difference. Sure the LV has a green bezel and a maxi dial but technically they are both still Submariners. Anyhow if I do sell the F series 16610 I would have to wait til late august as my uncle is bringing over the boxes and papers for it for me. Hmm what to do?

For what it's worth I haven't got a Sub date but absolutley love wearing my 16610 LV. It's my favourite.

Yes I would miss the black but isn't the bezel insert changable to black on the LV? That's another option that I'm considering. If I get bored of the green it's easy to change it to black.

The #1 reason I sold my SD for a LV was due to the SD smaller hands/markers and limited lume. Obviously the SD/Sub are the same wrt hands/markers...so my advice is to consider how much you care about night readability (trust me, the Maxi dial makes a big difference at night). To me it was a big deal (I sleep w/ my watch on & use it to tell time at night), so I swapped (and bought a black insert so I could change it up when the green seemed a little too 'out there') to the LV. If you don't really care about the lume issue, I would say to just keep your current Sub.

The cheapest compromise is to buy an LV insert for your black sub. In real terms the dial would still not be maxi but you would have the attractive green colour.
If you want to sell it you could re install the black insert.

Keep the 16610. It's a classic. The green bezel on the LV does nothing for me. I am not a huge maxi-dial fan either.

Same here when i order my ss sub 16610 i was told it would be 4 - 8 weeks and he offered me a LV he had there and then, the money wasnt an issue, i just didnt feel like i could wear an LV everyday and love the classic look of the black bezel so for me the LV was not my first choice, saying that i cant knock the LV for its beauty but for me the all time classic had to be my first roley

Andy, both are Sub dates. The 16610 and the LV share everything save the dial, minute hand, and insert.

As most here know I'm a big fan of the maxi-dial because of the increase surface area for luminosity. I wrestled with the same thing and decided the 16610 and 16610 LV both had a place in my collection.

It is possible to install a black insert in the LV for a different look, and as you're in Canada it might be easier for you to source one than it is here in the states (I don't know this only guessing).

A consideration for me was the fact the LV gives me the maxi-dial in the classic Rolex Sub. case size. Every indication points to the next generation of Sub. going to the supersize case. I'm sure this is going to be a great watch (and I know I'll be lusting after one ), but the current case sizing is perfect for me.

Here are some comparisons that might help,

A black insert on the LV,

Standard and "BLV"

I voted to keep the 16610 because I thought the green would get tire some after time..

However, I may pick up an LV if the opportunity is ever right......I could never feel comfortable with a green watch on my wrist, so I would definitely get a black insert for it....that look is dynamite...

Another good thing about the LV besides the maxi-dial is that its bracelet can be reduced to 4 links on the 6 o'clock side so it can be worn more comfortably on small wrist.

Not a big fan of the color green. Maybe if the dial was a different color but the green and black clash.

love the look of the green, but i think the maxi dial is what sets the LV apart from the 16610.

It's a no brainer, sell the 16610 and buy the Sub LV and get the black bezel insert and you have the best of both worlds.

Better yet try and get the full bezel with a black insert, its easier NOT to remove the insert each time, just change the bezels.

The LV is not so common which is one reason I chose it over the Sub, but the maxi dial is, as others have stated , the key issue.

I voted to keep the black Sub. I'm not a big fan of the green, plus my wife said it didn't look right for me....

It is well written that I am anti-maxi dial. So, I say keep the 16610.
