Rolex : Hecho En Mexico

Hi there,
I own an early 1950's Rolex Oyster Precision with what looks like the original Jubilee bracelet. However, on the underside of the bracelet the words 'Hecho En Mexico Joskes ' are imprinted. My question is were Rolex bracelets ever made in Mexico and,if so, why and are they commonplace as I've never seen one before.
