TRF'ers, I just picked up a U series Sub no-date with the tritium dial... is this a collectible?

Congrats. I wouldn't call it a collectable just yet, but it is the last tritium dial Sub so maybe in the future it will be if you keep it original.

Every Rolex is a collectible.... 14060's were made from 1989 to 99

The U series was made for a long time...from about 96 through 99. Since yours has the Tritium dial I would say it was a '96 or 97, before the move to Luminova.

The 14060 has the very good 3000 movement which got an upgraded full balance bridge and slightly larger Breguet over-coil hairspring and balance wheel to become the 3130 and hence, the 14060M for modified.. It also has a Sapphire crystal and, of course, a Triplock crown and hollow end link bracelet, the same as the 14060M.

To say collectible you need to define your collection. If it a Sub collection, then this would help complete it. Trit dials only, same... However, if you are a die hard vintage guy who only believes in plastic crystals then this one would not be on your list..

My collection preference is for discontinued models or those difficult to obtain (this is how I justify my SS Daytona)

So for me, this one is on the list..

As the matt dials head father north, over time the gloss/tritium dials could well fill the bill.
