what do they do with the warranty card and registration? Do they technically have to sell as used?

In all probability.
It will be reflected in the price the OP is offered for his DSSD.
I honestly couldn't see any way around it unless they are able to do a deal with Rolex to have a new warranty card issued and effect cancellation of the registration.

Personally, if I could afford it I would just keep the watch as a really nice compliment to having the D-Blue.
I have both and the DSSD is my daily wearer, with the D-Blue being reserved strictly for special occasions.

If you've had the watch a week, it would be great to see a pic of the watch outside the dealer.
