Sub question from newbie.

Hi forum,

new to the higher-end watch thing, and I have a question or two.

After quite some browsing and pondering, I had decided on either the Sub or the SD, wasn't sure yet. So I went to a local jeweller's, tried on both, and their cases were all I had expected, magnificent, most beautiful watches I've ever seen.

Thing is though, I was somewhat dissapointed with regards to the wristband, specifically the width. Measuring my current watches, I apparently have nothing less than 20mm, which I seem to have come accustomed to.

What exactly is the standard width of the Sub's band? And does Rolex have any comparible models with a wider band?

I'm not quite sure whether I'll just have to get used to the idea, or whether I should look for something else... and I had just finally decided to get one, really didn't see this one coming..

Any input appreciated.

Thanks, Paul.

Hmm.. maybe you are right.

Do you know the width of the bracelet? Something like 17 mm, is it?

Thanks, Paul.

Think classic and timeless. That's what you're paying for.

Both the Sub and the SD have 20mm bracelets at the case. They taper down to ~16mm at the clasp.

Yes! And one of the strongest on the market, with a clasp equally secure fliplock, too. That bracelet has proven reliable for decades

Get the one you like best, it won't disappoint!

Both are great and just a matter of you liking the cyclop or not and the thickness of SD.

The width of the bracelet at the lug end is 20 mm; but the clasp width is 17 mm.

You can't possibly go wrong with the Sub - still the world's best sports watch, most recognised and most sought after!!

Get one - I promise you that you'll have no regrets at all!!

The Sub is the most iconic of all Rolex sports models. Good luck on your decision and welcome to TRF.

Thanks for all the input guys..

I'll have to think about it some more, I guess...

I agree with all statements about the classic beauty and so on, and indeed, maybe I'll just have to get used to the narrow band, as I don't think Rolex is bound to produce wider bands in the near future.

Thanks again,

Paul.
