Newbie needs some help.

First off let me say hello to everyone. I have been reading the threads here for some time and I have found many of them very useful. 2 questions. First...what have been the changes over the last 10 years to the submariner date...(ex. etching on the inside of the bezel). Second question...is it still impermissible for an AD to discount a Rolex watch...If anyone can answer or direct me to a site/post that has the answer to these questions I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

There has not really been any change to the Sub date ref 16610 over the past 10 years... It did receive the crystal etching (crown) in about 2001, and the etched rehaut this past year...

The most significant event was the introduction of the green bezel 16610LV in 2003 that included a "maxi-dial" where the lume dots and hands are larger.. both are still offered relatively unchanged..

The Sub model 14060M is also unchanged since 1999, (1989 to 1999 had a slightly different movement) except for the COSC certification dials that started this past year and the cosmetics..

We do have some more information over in our Rolex Reference Library boards..

I was not sure if there were any changes other than cosmetically ex. etching on the inside of the bezel, laser crown etching, brighter illumination with white gold borders, new info card, etc. Thanks for your help.

Welcome aboard. ADs can discount, but a discount can be tough to get on the SS models.
