What's the difference in length between an extra link and the micro-adjustment fully?

Hi all

Hope I can write this so it makes sense... may apologies if I get any of the terminology wrong... one of those things that is hard to explain in writing, but very easy to show in person, but here goes...

I Bought a new GMTIIc, has
5 links at 6 o'clock
7 links at 12 o'clock

Watch is just about right with comfort link OUT and micro-adjustment on the last (ie. biggest) setting. I think I can see two (2) other settings for micro-adjustment, so I assume 3 in total???

This doesn't really give me any room to go bigger, and with summer coming up, I'm expecting to need just a little more.

At this setting, the clasp is just a little off-centre on my wrist (obviously biased towards the 5 link side)

The AD generously gave me an additional link, so my question is...

If I add this so I have 6 links (5+1) and keep the other side as is, (ie. 7 links), I will then have the micro-adjustment moved to the SMALLEST of the 3 settings, PLUS I will fold the comfort link in. Theoretically, this should bring me back to where I started, but with the benefit of being able to extend the comfort link out if needed.

My concern is it will be TOO BIG, and I won't have any way of bringing it in a little if needed.

The main question is...
What is the diffference in length between a link V's the full range of the micro-adjustment???

Hope someone knows the answer...

There is no perfect answer except for you to play around with the links. Everyone's wrist is different, so my suggestion is to try the link on both sides and see what wears best. Having the right size screwdriver comes in really handy here!

Thanks Scott

I'm TERRIFIED I will break something... maybe I had better do a search for previous posts with pics???

I was going to go to an AD here in Sydney...

The AD I bought from is happy to do, but he is in another city!

Had another thought John, what about taking it to RSC in Australia Square. Maybe your AD in Melbourne could organize it for you .

PS: or I have a screw driver

Hi Peter

I didn't know there was a RSC in Australia Square

I always thought that watched had to be sent to Melbourne for service...?

They're not listed on the Rolex website, as far as I can see. What do you know about them?

PS. Maybe I should borrow your hammer instead
