Help new purchase - 5513
Today I was offered this watch for a reasonable price, what can you tell me about it? 1.9M serial.

I dislike the sub, BUT love this watch. It's a classic and great addition to any collection
But more importantly, does it speak to you? |

That is not the correct dial for a 1.9mil serial 5513. It should be a meters first dial and that is a Mk 1 maxi dial found around 10 years later. Of lessor consequence than the dial, but the bracelet is incorrect as well.

If you do happen to buy it ...
Hi Marcello,
If you do decide to buy it , it may be worthwhile talking to me. I have a couple of 5513 MF dials here (with matching hand sets). And I need an FF dial for a late 70s' Submariner 5513 |

The insert may not be original to the watch but it is vintage. The main problem is the dial, if you buy it make sure the price is heavily discounted for the incorrect dial. It is a vintage dial but not correct for a 1.9 mil case. Maybe get in touch with the poster above and you can work out a dial trade. |

Extra note ...
Might be worthwhile seeking some good high res. pics of the dial plots.
Some of the maxi dials had a somewhat heavy look to the plot lume but that particular dial seems heavier than most. Not a dial that I'm particularly familiar with but the lume on the 6 o'clock stick (among others) looks clumsy to me , and the hash beneath that has a touched up look to it. Might simply be the angle of the pic but worth checking |
