I know there's the self regulating so at night it'll go in the position with crown up to lose a few seconds and see how that works out.

If it's gained 5 seconds in 6 hours it sounds like it's not running within COSC despite what they said when I bought it.

Seems I'll have to keep an eye on its timing and it could need to go in for regulating.

Any advice here?

"Keeping good time" can mean almost anything. Running within CSOC is very specific and not open to interpretation. But hey, live and learn.

Thanks.
From looking, I believe when it switched to SEL the box also went to the new style large green box.

My serial starts A7 and I think A8 onwards has the upgrades.

I think mine is a very last one with non sel and that vintage box.

Experts correct me as I may be wrong.

Congratulations on a great watch. Looks lovely. Enjoy.

I can't decide whether I want a 5 digit or ceramic again as my next. I always have a fear that the aluminium bezels could get chipped easy and my OCD would require a replacement each time!

That said, every time I see an older GMT or sub I am convinced one will be my next....

Enjoy it

I have OCD too but the Alu are so cheap to replace if needed. Also the old style bracelet being brushed should be easier to keep looking great.

Aluminium bezel inserts can get scratched/damaged, but this has never happened to any of my 3 pre-ceramic subs, one of which was worn daily by me for 10 years. I can't imagine how you could "chip" one, and in any case replacements are cheap.

I think chipping is the preserve of the ceramic bezels, and it's one of the things which puts me off owning one.

Oddly, I chipped the bezel of my black bay when I had it after a week. Probably one of those things but you see enough great looking Pre ceramics to know it's not that much of an issue. Out of interest, how much do the inserts cost as replacements?

I believe, as long as the watch was originally meant to have that bezel, Rolex will provide a replacement for around £60.
