New to forum with a few questions

I’ve been looking at Rolex’s for a while now and I tried on a few in July. I’ve pretty much narrowed down my first to a #1GMT II or #2 a sea dweller. My concern is that my wrists are 8-1/4” so I usually try to find a watch that’s 42-44mm. I’d rather get the GMT II but worried that it will look too small. Also, when I looked at it in the store, I couldn’t get it on. How many links would I need for it to fit?

tia,
Sean

Hi big guy! Welcome to the forums!

Were the watches pre-owned? If so, could they have had links removed?

If new, the AD should be able to advise you.

I think a GMT would look great on you. Having that large of wrists with a 40mm i think it would look great.

I have similar concerns with my 7 3/4” wrists. I have found the GMT Master II is just big enough for me. The metal bracelet blends so perfectly with the watch that it adds apparent size and keeps the watch from looking like I’m wearing a quarter strapped to my wrist. If I recall correctly, 14 links is standard. Like EC said in the above post, an AD would be able to fit a new watch for you, adding a link if needed. Here’s my GMT2 16710 (year 2000) on my wrist:
My other watch is an Omega Speedmaster Co-Axial with a 44.25mm case. It may be worth a look to you considering your (and my) wrist size.

It's how it looks to YOU that matters. If you think the GMT looks small, give some of the larger offerings a go...the new SD, EXP2 would be a great place to start.

DSSD is big and chunky at 44mm. SD43 isn't as chunky but pretty large at 43mm.

SD43, DSSD or YM2 would be good choices for you. If you need extra links some ADs may order them in for you for free.
