Papers?

I'm hoping you guys can help . . .

Any idea why some older (Garantie) Papers are 'punched' and others are 'typewritten' (particularly USA and Canada)?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

Regards,

Brian

Brian it seens to depend on where the watch was originally purchased. In the states some feel punched papers were dropped sooner than in other parts of the world. (of course nothing with Rolex is bright line).

Thanks Mike,

I have an 80s Explorer II 'Orange Hand' with a 'Garantie' that's rubber-stamped by a company/jeweller called 'Birk's' but the serial number is handwritten.

My other watches (mostly European) have punched papers . . . I was just checking was all.

I checked 'Birk's' out on the net . . . they've existed since 1879 . . .

Sounds about right Brian. It's my understanding punched papers began making their exit in the mid-80s in the states. Could very well be the same across North America.

I had this one that carried a 5 mil number with punched.
