Identification and repairing of vintage watches
Hello all, I am new to the TRF.
My grandfather left us these two watches when he passed away, however, we have no idea what series they are. We have actually taken it to a rolex repair center in Hong Kong but they refuse to fix it(they said they couldn't fix it). As you can see, one of them is in a very very bad shape. So...I am wondering 1. What year or models are they? 2. Where to get them fixed? (Recommendations welcomed) Thanks in advance for any help! |

Hi,
I am no expert, but they are both fairly early Oysters, I think the one on the left is from around the mid 1940's and the gold one on the right late 1930's to early 1940's. The one on the right although looking like a left handed watch is probably a normal right handed crown watch, but due to the lack of winding stem the movement has probably turned around in the case giving the impression it is left handed. As to repairs, any good watchmaker should be able to repair them for you at a price. You should be able to locate a crown and stem reasonably easily. No super information, but I hope it is of some use. Good luck getting them running again |

Thx to all replies! That was big help, worst thing about two two watches is that they only show rolex oyster, makes it pretty tough for any outsiders to tell what series it is.
So I am also wondering, how much am I looking to if I were to restore these two watches? |
