Cosmograph?

What is a cosmograph? Is it just Rolex's term for their chronograph Daytona?

Nope, that's exactly backwards..

Rolex coined the term Cosmograph first for their chronographs, and then in the early 60's they badged some of them with Daytona..

For some reason, all of Rolex Chronos began being called Daytonas, so that name stuck and now they are all badged that way.

Rolex started that term when they put the tach scale on the bezel as opposed to it being on the rim of the dial. Of course they patent on the name.
