I just looked at a member's pic of his new SubDS. I thought it looked great on his wrist. Which led to what I think may be a lively discussion on the interplay among the size of a Rolex model and the physical stature of the person (male or female) wearing it.
Does anyone have an opinion on this? For instance I am 5'6" and 150lbs. I for one don't believe no matter how much I loved the Deep Sea (i do!) that I can "pull it off" on my wrist.
I see it all the time when people of average build wear a Breitling Hercules etc. However, I saw an NBA pro wearing one recently and it looked well suited for him.
OR can you imagine a WWF type guy wearing a mid-size DJ?

Seriously though, I don't think it really matters, buddy. Well, I guess a DSSD would be a wee bit over the top for a guy of your stature; but does anyone really care except yourself?

If you love it, what the heck....go for it!! If it makes you feel happy, what the heck....go for it.

My partner at work, 5'9'' and 150lb. He wears a 48mm watch, bought in Las Vegas mall. It's wider than his wrist but he likes it.

I must have missed the party. Congrats on the 50k JJ!

And to add my two cents to the subject, I think wrist size is what is important. I am 6 feet, physically fit and my wrist size is 6.75 inches. Now, my wrist is more flat than round so I can wear watch up to 55mm. And have tried them too.

Today, for a Halloween treat, my wife let me wear my new Sea Dweller Deep Sea (i.e., SDDS). That's a long story by itself.

I am 5'6", 166#. There is no doubt it is a chunkier watch and I cannot button a long sleeve shirt cuff over it. However, I had always intended it as a vacation/scuba diving watch. It's great with short sleeves. I did not find it bothersome to wear. I also like to ski and I imagine the adjustable strap would allow it fit over thermal underwear.

I know a lot of people don't like the SDDS but I love it. It feels bulletproof. But then again, I knew before I bought it that I was going to abuse it.

I am 5-11 and 180 lbs... embarrassingly enough a 36mm is probably the best sized Rolex for me... I have tried a 40 mm and (I think) I can pull that off too :)

All a matter of proportion, imo. I think when a skinny girl wears a big 40mm watch it's more of a fashion statement. Meaning, there's a little more leeway with the proportion issue.
