Do you think that operating a timer is more difficult that mastering a GMT?

It is a difficult choice.

Yeap that is a brand new price, and yeap the USD is very weak atm. around 0.66 USD per 1 AUD. Good for exporting, bad for importing.

Thanks for the comparison pics.

I think the GMT is the watch for me.

I have a chronograph watch at the moment (my breitling) and I it doesn't 'smile back at me' as much as my submariner (and my other watches that have that similar style). I think I only have my eyes set on a Daytona because so many people on TRF do too! Rather than follow the crowd, I'll get a GMT which I think will make me happier. I know I am buying because I really want it, and not because everybody else really wants it, like I think i'd be doing with the Daytona. The date feature on the GMT is something else that I really do want. I like the look of a Rolex cyclops and date, and I also find myself frequently using it. I find it annoying sometimes when I look at my Panerai and there is no date.

Thanks again everyone for your input and help

Every now and then I may thow in a few hundred...or maybe even just $10 into this bank account which I use to buy a watch. I may sound strange, but I really enjoy the feeling when I see the numbers rise...and approach the goal set to buy the watch I'm saving for.

Now here's the question...what now! I am delighted with my Submariner but thanks to TRF....the addiction has taken hold to a point where I am dreaming about Rolex's.

I am tossing between a SS GMTIIc or a white face SS Daytona. As much as I'd like to go into a store and try them on and look at them side by side...I can't do this as my local AD's hardly ever have stock of either!

What would you do? Which should I save for and why?

At the moment I am leaning towards a Daytona, as the GMTIIc is quite similar to my Submariner. But then it is different in its own way.
How about Daytona's....is the huge demand finally slowing? Or will they remain scarce and face even more huge price rises

Any advice would be much appreciated...this dilemma has forced me to read countless threads on both watches all day...and I just can't work out what to do! :)

An Explorer 2 white dial has the function of the 24hr hand like a GMT IIc, and the white dial appearance of a SS White Daytona. Since I have all 3 and the Blue TT Sub, I didn't have to make the hard choice. Just one more bit of info to muddy your waters.

Having said that, this may be the best time i've seen to add a daytona to one's collection.

Well, I've never seen a White SS Daytona, so I got the GMT IIc.

They are different enough for me. The Daytona is just too expensive for me. For $10k there are other watches I'd really like. A Pam 233 comes to mind or a 50 Fathoms.

I would say Daytona The GMT is a stunner but it looks just like the sub. One of them will speak to you and you will no then.
