Daytona Price Drop

I was trolling around the Alan Furman site today and noticed the SS Daytona is now going for 11,750. As I remember a few months ago it was going for about 900.00 more. I have also noticed a lot more TRF'ers are getting the call as availability seems to be better. What are your thoughts?

I would not pay above MSRP now, there have been more people posting that they have gotten the call and passed than I can ever remember....but yes, the price has dropped and I do not think we have seen the bottom yet. Be patient, your call will come.

Agreed!!!

Much more prevalent these days, I flipped one 6 months ago and then again about 4 months ago and two AD's have called me since then offering a black and a white. I think the derth is over. I wouldn't be flipping right now in this economy anyway but given the recent availablity I wouldn't be buying one now unless I wanted to own it.

$11750 is still astronomical. You can pick up like new ones for under $10,000 now.

I have a rule for myself. I never pay over MSRP for ANY item. No matter if watches, cars, etc.

Daytonas are not fetching premium prices from the gray markets and ADs are having a little harder time finding buyers. Give it a few more years and we'll probably see the opposite of that especially with the possibility of a 50th anniversay version of the Daytona.

If every model has a 5th anniversary then the Daytona should be out 2011-2012 since it will be 50th anniversary then. Wonder where they're gonna add the green on that one

There's still a premium in the grey market here in Singapore but I hear that it's much narrower than before. ADs however, are still charging an exorbitant premium of about 50 per cent above MRSP.

The Cosmograph was launched in about 1960. That would put a 50th anniversary for this model at 2010..

..........however..... The Daytona badging of the Cosmo didn't start until about 1962.. It wasn't until much later that they all became known as the Daytona....So 50 years for the Daytona isn't until 2012.

So, the question is....What would the anniversary model be....A Cosmo, or a Daytona..

..........And when would you "celebrate" this..???

And even further...Why ????.. So far the GMT is the only one with a real ""anniversary" model, the solid gold '04 model with green dial.

The LV was never an "anniversary" model, but only released "in celebration of 50 years of the Submariner"

LV , orange, purple.... I wouldn't mind any color for the anniversary edition as long as it had a DATE. I just sold mine and one of the reasons was that with advancing age, the DATE function is a necessity.
