So, they take $15K watches, spray paint them so they look like a $10 flea market watch, resell for $25K, hipsters buy them to be “different”.

Some modified watches actually look better than the originals, but these are just .................... black.

I would never do this to a Rolex or PP in a million years.

For a lesser cost, if I really wanted one, I’d find an all black watch from a manufacturer (which I did) - Cartier Calibre Diver on a black rubber strap, all black case... I thought the watch itself was very nice looking, but due to the shape of the lugs, I just couldn’t get it to fit comfortably on my wrist, so I sold it.

Definitely wouldn’t send my watch to a place that also does replicas.

I would not do it. Look and see some of the watches that are out there and from other companies. Look at Bamford, the modifications are strong.

You mean back to original spec? If so then if no one else will then you have no choice. Who blacked it up in the first place?

I would steer clear of anything Kickstarter related. There is a reason a company is on Kickstarter and it's not because the company got funding from angels or VC.

how was yours originally blackened ? Neither DLC nor PVD applications are chemically reversible, the black has to be polished off. And as far as polishing, it's usually a pretty aggressive one.

Maybe better to find someone to buy your black watch and put the proceeds towards a silver one....

Just had a look at the site - frankly, they look like they just modify replica watches, change them ever so slightly so they can position that they aren't outright fake/replica's. No actual Rolex or genuine watches used....personally, for me, these are counterfeit/fake watches IMO.

Richard Mille, Rolex - exact copies, only Blackout as the name rather than Rolex or RM.

There was a thread about them on Open Discussion. If you search the net you'll see they're just junk.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is this the same BLACK-OUT Rolex Daytona 116520 by Project X you posted on a thread on the watch discussion forum of Watch Turf 9 months ago and again yesterday? I understand the MD of BoC has offered to remove the coating and restore it back to factory finish but did you ask for a second opinion from the Bracelet Magician Michael Young via email about the DLC stripping/reversal? There were some other issues about the dial, hands, caseback etc weren't they, so have you sorted them out?
