Question about the Sub Two Tone

Simple question, is the gold in the middle, plated or solid ?

Solid. The 18K gold has always been solid, but the middle links themselves were hollow until the 6 digit/current version.

This

The links on the older models are made of solid gold that is folded over to form the link and thus they are often referred to as “hollow”

That's a strip of 18k gold fused to the clasp, so that is not plated either..

The older "hollow" links and the stamped clasp on the older model do make it much lighter. I noticed a big difference when I switched over.

But as flimsy as the stamped clasps feel they are rock solid for functionality, that is for sure.
