New guy needs a little help.

Hello everyone! I need some help. Will come with a little back story. I am looking to buy my wife her first Rolex as an accomplishment gift. She is graduating from pharmacy school in a few months and I believe this would be great for her. Personally (and I believe she and I have a lot of the same style ideas) I like the look of some of the older watches (also helps because I am still on a budget of money that I have managed to save while paying all the bills and getting her through school). I realize some of the styles have not changed much as of the look characteristics, but for some reason a certain style has really caught my eye. The diamond bezel lady oyster perpetual datejust. With that being said, I would like to ask thoughts and comments on a couple watches I have been eyeing on ebay.

Thanks in advance. I look forward to reading and learning in the future. And maybe when the wife gets out of school, she will return the favor and I can exchange my TAG aquaracer for something for I can enjoy.

Matt

IMHO, get her the real Rolex with no custom adding.
May cost more, but it's worthy !

x2. Think about what she likes - not what you like. Personally, I am not a diamond fan when it comes to Rolex.

Best of luck!

Both those watches have aftermarket dials & bezels, when ever you see the word "custom" stay away IMHO. In order to service either of these watches, Rolex will require you to bring the watch to its original state (meaning a new dial & bezel), costing you a small fortune! Stick with 100% Rolex parts with no customization.

Great idea But I agree with the others. Go to an Authorised Dealer and I guarantee you will find plenty to tempt you. And you will be guaranteed that what you buy is genuine with a warranty. Good luck.

I have found that watches with stones added or even if bought from rolex, omega or other high brands they dont hold their value as well as plain models, as others have said go to an AD and you,ll get something she would like. Also if not a surprise let the lady pick as a watch is a very personal thing

Honestly, I am trying for a surprise. Although I SUCK at surprises. Something about when I buy something for someone I find it useless not to tell them what it is, and most of the time, give it to them. I really would like to surprise her with this though.

I am also considering something like these listed below.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=015

and

I like the simplicity of the 76080 model.

If it to be a surprise try to ask in a non direct way what watch she likes the look of and this might give you some idea
