TT daytona

Hi everyone,

this is my first thread but it i've been replying on some of the threads every once in a while. just a quick question somebody is selling me a TT Daytona A series for 7,500 canadian dollars the watch is authentic since i already brought it to RSC for authentication. should i go for it or should i save i few more dollars and go for the SS. all my rolex are SS and simply love them. But when it comes to daytonas i kinda like the TT better than the SS. your opinions will be highly valuable to my decision.

Thanks!

Chenx15

i thought this forum was a support group for rolex addicts... i was wrong.

If you like the TT better than the SS then that is the one you should get...

If every watch you have is a SS model then it could be a very boring world indeed............

here is a new twist to this question. somebody just offered me 4000 Canadian dollars for a seadweller i'm not sure how old it is. the only difference is that the sea dweller deep sea will be shipped to me and not a person to person deal like the daytona

Go for it if you like it. it should have the 4030 movement.
Funny that SS Daytona with 4030 is still selling over 10K

Great buy mate - go for it. The TT looks excellent. Do you have a pix of it or a link?

Saw the picture and it looks great.
4030 is modified from Zenith El Primero and was used until the around P serial number.
4130 is in house. You'll find the second hand dial of zenith next to 9 o'clock marker (lepine style) but located next to 6 o'clock in that of 4130 (hunter style)
they are both accurate but 4130 has longer power reserve and winds faster to full reserve. also it's easier to service teh 4130 as well.
but, as a wearer, both are lovely time pieces

Well the Zenith movement was introduced around 1988/9 the Cal 4030 power reserve around 48 hours. But some say Rolex downgraded the Zenith movement when they put there own 28800 BPH escapement from its norm hi-beat 36000 BPH.Myself have a very high regard for the El-Primo movement and would say its one of the best chrono movements made, and its proved its self now over a several decades. While the Rolex cal 4130 now with power reserve around 72 hours and introduced 2000 is a very fine excellent movement, but in movement terms a relativity newcomer. Now IMO the SS or TT Zenith powered ones will always be collectable, and will command higher price that its in-house brother. Quite ironic two of the most collectable and highest price Daytona's don't have a Rolex in-house movement as its engine.

Rolex Daytona powered El Primero chronograph movement in the Daytona Cosmograph (Rolex bought the complete base movement ebauche, and then they slowed it down from 36000 BPS, to its own slower beat by fitting a Rolex 28,800 bph escapement. And added there own fine regulation microstella screws and Breguet balance spring, all the rest is pure Zenith. And the main reason that Rolex produced there first ever chronograph movement was this.Simply Zenith would not,or could not supply enough movements to Rolex so they designed there first ever chronograph movement 2000.
