Hi Dave, very nice suggestion. I'd go for it too... only if I could.

A vintage Omega pre moon speedmaster, or a Patek Philippe nautilus, reason I just like them

Maybe a Pan because of the limited production number, but honestly, I would rather have a 2nd Rolex anyday. For 6k-10k, I would probably get 2.

Ulysse Nardin or an IWC, most likely one of their divers either way.

I would try to find a .....

I would try to find a used Blancpain Fifty Fathom. It is better in some ways and different and I have always liked it.

AP Royal Oak. JLC Reverso Squadra Hometime. IWC Big Pilot 5004. Breguet Flyback Chronograph. Many good watches out there at this price.

I get it that you're more informed about Rolex then about Pam but I will help you out.

PAM as in Panerai models are not limited by any means. If they say 'limited to 500', it usually means 500 per year until they change up the model (a weee litte bit) and call it PAMXX+2.

There are a couple models which are truely limited. Those will cost you 20k. Those same watches hold a 150$ ETA Movement that is redecorated. I'm not saying PAMs are worthless, because now they do have their own 8day and 10day in-house models... But to have an in-house movement in a PAM, be prepared to shell out. It deffinetly does not fit the bit of 6-10k.

AFAIK, Rolex, JLC and Omega are the only watchmarkers that can provide you a mechanical watch that is made completely in-house, under 10k.

And that, to me, is quality. Makes me wish I never sold my Reverso Squadra.

I just googled AFAIK, thinking it was an obscure watch brand.

Hmm...there is a lot of choice out there. A Cartier Ballon Bleu is a seriously classy looking watch, and I love their Roadster model as well. Omega have some lovely models too, and I could certainly see myself wearing a Chronoswiss - I love their Lunar Chronograph. On the other hand, there are a couple more Rolexes I want first, so I'll play it by ear :P

I have an Omega SMP, I'm buying a co-ax seamaster next week, but if money were no object, I'd be buying a Dufour's Simplicity

I really like the two-tone Cartier Bullon Bleu Automatic. It's a beautiful and elegant watch.

If I had money to burn, I'd have to agree. The VC Overseas Chrono White Dial just speaks to me. As for better or worse... non-issue.

It would be a nice dress watch. I was going to say a PP Calatrava but in the price range, it would have to be a JLC.

I don't know what the comparable Rolex watches would be.
