NYC Trip

I was in NYC for a few days this week for work. I got out of my meetings early on Monday, so i took a walk up 5th ave to the Rolex boutique. I hung out for a while and was talking watches with one of the sales ladies. Super nice people working there, but i was surprised at how little they had in stock. They had a lot of Datejusts and OPs.....i saw one PM Daytona, but no GMTs, Skydwellers, subs, etc. You'd figure that they'd have a little of everything here in Manhattan, but i didn't find that to be the case. Very nice store though otherwise, and they gave me a hard cover catalog which i thought was cool. I do have a small problem now, which is that i left there thinking i should get my wife a lady Datejust lol. Was pricing them out while i was there. Anyway just thought I'd share. Have a great day guys!

I’m glad you enjoyed your visit. Thanks for sharing. Did you visit Wempe and Tourneau as well? They are all a few blocks from one another. It would have been interesting to check stock there as well.

I think of pal of mine bought his BLNR from here, super nice people and I would be very surprised if they didn't have anything in the safe, theres a catch though he paid over the MSRP for it from this store!

Not surprised at the lack of stock. Especially in Manhattan.

The salespeople at that store know how to treat everyone that walks in. As far as supply goes, it’s been bare other than the pieces you mention and PM pieces. Why is it always so bare? Well it is 5th Ave in NYC after all. I have seen buyers pick up several pieces at a time.

Sorry for the sour look lol, I'm tired. But thanks guys! I love my DJ41. Stellar watch. If Datejusts are your thing, then they have plenty of those. Hell, my wife might be an owner soon! Wasn't initially thinking about it, but i checked out a number of them while i was at the boutique. They even had a matching lady Datejust - exact same configuration as mine. She would die if i came home with one for her!

In Manhattan a lot of people want all the sports models not shocked that showcase was bare, unless they are holding certain peices in their back safe for their vip clients

The next Rolex in your family does need to be the model she wants (unless you have already heard she wants the L-DJ).

Once she has a Rolex for a few months, your next one will be an easier buy as she’ll understand the mystique.

The economy is doing very well, so people have extra money in their pockets. Not surprised with the low inventory.

Wempe is the best of the 3 IMO. The boutique never has any stock.

Next time, you should also walk over the wempe on 55th st. More Rolex and lots of other brands to check out.

So Rolex store is allowed to charge over MSRP and ADs can't?

I don't believe the Wempe Rolex Boutique in the Rolex Building would charge over MSRP. I believe the US price may be more than in your country so maybe he's confused.

In years gone by this Boutique (and Wempe's across the street) had good stock, but alas they were empty last November just in time for Christmas. The good old days.

My friend and I managed to hit up both tourneau stores, wempe and Rolex on a Saturday a few weeks ago, and NONE had a single sub or gmt in stock. Pretty amazing.

I'm definitely not mistaken, unless you're telling me that with sales tax $10,500 is a normal price to pay, which is what he paid from this very store

Is Tourneau going to change name to Bucherer since they were purchased by them?

I'm hoping so and then maybe I can pick up a Bucherer LE Black Bay bronze while I'm in NYC later this year.
