Time became faster

Hello everyone , I would like to ask if this is considered as a common thing. My watch was faster by almost 30 minutes and the time was not adjusted. I had just purchased my watch and this is the first time which I encountered this. Should I send my watch for servicing ?

Yes indeed!

How long have you had it? If its within a few weeks i would go back to the AD and ask to have it replaced with a new one. I have owned Rolexs for almost 30 years and never had it happen......But i once bought a Franck Muller and it happened and it was replaced no questions asked

It sounds like serious magnetisation of the movement. Have you left your watch on a speaker, or on your mobile phone or any other powerful electronic/electric device or stuck in an x-ray machine or MRI machine??

ANd what kind of watch is it out of curiousity?

It is a Submariner. I just got it less than a month. Should I ask for one to one exchange ? Is it possible to be done so ? I am afraid it would not be as nice.

If it was my one month old watch i would want it replaced with a new one!!!

These watches run for years without any problems....why start off on a bad foot.

I would ask for one to be ordered "factory fresh" and if you have to wait up to 12 weeks it will be worth the wait!

First a little bit more information over what period of time did your watch gain like you say 30 minutes.Have you dropped your watch, was your watch keeping good time within COSC spec -4+6 seconds a day.Try this give your watch a full manual wind say 40 crown turns, set watch with a reliable time source than wear your watch as normal.Check time with the same time source say over 24 hours if then your watch still shows abnormal timing take it back to where you bought it.Or take it to RSC Orchard road they might regulate it if needed while you wait.

It's one thing to have it regulated due to a few minutes +/- over a number of days but 30 mins in potentially a short period is very unusual. I would personally visit the RSC on Orchard (very nice building also) and have them inspect it. If they regulate it and set the time and it still loses or gains that much time i'd request a swap.
Don't worry about being worried as most people here on the forum would be feeling the exact same!!! It's perfectly normal to want something to work 100%.
Either way Rolex will look after you so don't panic too much my friend.

Well before you start to worry just try what I said first,if you have not dropped or put your watch in a strong magnetic field.Perhaps you reset your watch wrong but to gain 30 minutes is not normal.Try your watch over the next few days if then still have the same problem take it back to where you bought it.

Yes. Definitely send it in. It happens occasionally and is easily corrected by RSC regardless of the cause.

It won't be long until you will have it back and running perfectly!

Wind it fully (30 -40 turns) set it and wear it. Check it each day against the same time standard. No amount of adjusting will compensate for +30 minutes even if that was per week. If it is running as fast as that then time for a replacement IMO.

Same thing happened to my SD ... they wouldn't replace it as they said it was under warranty and I had to get it fixed by the RSC. Did that, waited about 6 weeks, and got it back fixed. Same problem came up about 2 months later ...running 30 minutes fast, so I had to send it in AGAIN. Even so, RSC will fix it, and they will get it right ... still happy with my SD.
