It is a regular production model, not limited in any way

No plans to stop production. Will be like Green Bezel Sub.

10 years, and then it will get a date feature.

Really the only person/entity who can answer this correctly is Rolex itself and they are not saying: roger that!

originally it was intended to be a short production run, then however popularity deemed the new GV so successful that rolex decided to keep it in production until an unspecified date.

Don't agree with this statement in some ways. The GV albeit anniversary is on a staggered release in the same way that other collectable models are. Whilst the word limited is not true of any rolex model the GV is available (UK anyway) via an AD waiting list only with no guarentee of 2008, 2009, 2010 delivery time.
Flippers or grey mkt exceptions obviously.

It does seem funny that some forum readers (USA /Canadian generally) can't turn a corner without seeing yet another GV in the case and here in Europe it's easier to spot Lord Lucan or Elvis..

The South Eastern quarter of the USA is exactly the same way. Where are all these GV's and DSSD's that people speak of!

Apparently all the GV's and DSSD are playing hide and seek for those seeking them but for the not so interested they are impossible to miss. Funny that methinks!!

I have only seen one GV and one deep sea. I bought the GV and passed on the deep sea.

My AD said they were the #2 dealer by volume on the east coast of USA, and they were only expecting one GV for 2009. So limited release or not, there not super available ... IN fact the one I bought last week was only the 2nd one they have gotten to sell ...

If you really want one just buy a BNIB one from any watch forums sales corner for less than MSRP, I just don't get the hype. I had a GV and had a hard time selling the thing.

Buy one if you have the opportunity! They are still scarce.
All watches and luxury items are off due to the economy.
Great time to buy! Not sell

You can get the Daytona from our forum as well but that does not mean that they are abundant in ADs.

I don't think they are all that easy to come by. Secondhand or Grey dealer. You can get them at or below MSRP it seems.

Buying from AD... Not as easy.

I think they will keep making them for so long as there is a demand for them.
