I've never purchased new from an AD because I believe in letting the first starry eyed buyer taking the initial depreciation hit.

My TT Sub lists at $9,200 Cdn but when I bought it 5 years old from a U.S. eBay seller it only cost me $5,000. That's about a 50% saving vs new, and when I got it back from a major overhaul at the Toronto RSC the next year it was virtually brand new!

So, fellow TRF members, please buy lots of new Rolex watches at your ADs. When you're done with them, please list them for sale here first so local members will have the first right of refusal of depreciated watches.

My AD is moving his location and he had a 14060M that was being discounted as a "moving sale". Well, this guy is moving, but come to find out the watch had been in his display case for three years. In any case, whatever the reason for the discount, I got a great watch for $1000.00 under MSRP.

It's very easy to see that our friends in UK are getting the shaft from Rolex by not allowing the dealers to give any discounts. How? easy, limit the supply that's how. I read someone has mentioned in another thread that UK is having a supply problem of the Subs. And as we all know that there is no such issue anywhere else. Just about all of us get a decent discount from our AD in the US, some get better. How Rolex cannot do it in the US. simple. because the market is too big and there are just too many dealers for Rolex to control. Hell, I would suggest to our brothers in UK to complain to the authorities about this. I am sure there is a government department that you can lodge a complaint to. If you don't do it, Rolex would just continue to do it to you guys!

Pete,

I tried really extra hard to make it an even 8K, but even then it was like pulling teeth. The 8% off was the second offer after some serious haggling.........

I only bought one Rolex from AD, the rest were bought pre-owned. I got 22% (and no sales tax) off a DJ 116234 a few years ago.

never MSRP, i usually get 25 to 50% off. the 50% was from the gray dealer. I was willing to pay MSRP for the SS daytona but after reading most of the threads I think i will wait till there will be and "oversupply" and the hype will be over. I might not even want it anymore.

I had to really work hard to get my discount.

Three months of areobic training and strength condtioning so I could grab the box and warranty, sprint out the door and up the hill about 50 yards to a running car to make my get away......

I got a very significant discount on my 16710 recently. Way below MSRP at a price of 4300.00.

Made my first purchase SO much sweeter!

I always negotiate for a discount and always get one. If I don't receive one, I don't buy and go to another AD. Several of mine have been purchased while on business trips overseas.

I paid the MSRP to my AD which I don't mind, it has work out better because of the long term relationship. I get much better trade in values, impeccable service and free coffee while I wait( it's really good coffee)!!. I will never again go with a mall dealer

Discount

My friend owned a brokerage in AZ and used to give his employees Rolexes as bonuses. He got a 20% discount, so when we purchased watches we would go through him.

i have paid retail for my GMTIIC and Milgauss but i get them on credit, 1-2 years no interest, i seldom have that much cash to cough up at one moment. I did get my GMTIILN for $4200 out the door no tax back in 2002 but that was after a very good run on the craps table the week prior haha.

anyone know if ADs offer no interest @ a discount?

No, actually I paid MSRP + Kalifornia tax! I wanted the warranty and my apple polished. Next time, I'll buy it online.

Bought my LV from a grey dealer for 10% less than MSRP and no sales tax last Feb. I shopped around and it is the best deal at that time.

Just noticed you are new to TRF PurseLady.
