Icon3 attn sub owners ! have you swapped the black bezel for the anniv. one ?

Went on to ebay and noticed auctions for the green bezel for about 100, and I was thinking with all the after market bezels and dials out there I am pretty sure some guys here have done it ( swapping the coke to pepsi on the explorer )
so ? How is it done ?
Respectable watch repair shop ? I know it voids the warranty but sure as hell you can swap it back before it goes RSC.

Because now that I see the bezels and no diffrence in dials ( writting and such ) I am really tempted to do it.

So anybody here done it ? Pros and cons ? Pics ?

Thanks in advance.

I have been thinking of swapping the complete bezel assemblies on my Subdate and my LV. Just to see the 'Subdate' with a maxi dial and 'Kermit the Subby'.

Did you buy a Rolex bezel or an aftermarket?

first of all you would need a Maxi Dial for a regular sub to look like an LV, and the inserts are usually changed from green to black. Also, by Explorer I'm sure you meant GMT :)

Yes I change out my LV Sub complete bezel monthly with a black one, it's great giving it a different look monthly.

Try this link compliments of Jocke, http://www.vikbobil.se/bezel.html

dalton, a non-wis would not even recognize a maxi dial from a regular sub dial.. so imho, the change of bezel from black to grenn would certainly change the appearance of the watch from a regular sub to an lv sub regardless if it has a maxi dial or not

I have a Submariner 16610 made in 1991 with a nice Tritium dial.

Then I put in a maxidial and the fat minute hand.

Just a little closer.

And a green bezel insert.

So everything works great as you can see. Both 16610 and the 16610LV have the same bezel.

Good luck.

Yes only orginal Rolex parts.

I never touch aftermarket parts.

If I do, JJ will kill me.

how many times do I have to say it,those aftermarket inserts are not worth wasting your money on.if you want to change to a black insert then just buy a used one if you dont want to fork out the money for a new rolex one..

how much for a new green one? I dont even like green, but loved the LV, I didnt buy one, cause I prefer the non-maxi dial, but might buy a green bezel if possible in the spring, just for the occasional swap up.

Thanks guys!
