I just received a private message from user Watch_Guide about a trade for a watch I had listed for sale. There was a “link” for pics. The link was in reality either a virus or something because my system blocked it. I reported the PM to the admins. This is the 2nd suspicious message I have received in the past 3-4 days so everyone be cautious. Seems as tho the site is full of this sorta stuff

Same thing is happening on WUS too.

These scammers are out in full force for Summer!

It isn’t TRF alone, it’s all watch sites with sale sections.

The method they use is crude and basic, but it fools many, and it’s a never ending cycle. They just move from one hacked account to the next, all the while trying to swindle the unsuspecting of their money..

Just be vigilant, don’t click on links, always know 100% whom you’re dealing with, and don’t send money or watches to strangers.

Here is a four year old thread warning everyone of the method you described (Its a sticky at the top of the GD section) yet most will not read it unfortunately.

Links from strangers are never a good idea to click on. Watch forum, email, etc.

The thing about these PM scams is rooted in the scammers expectation that we will react quickly and not check the source - so vigilance is key.

All his 6 something posts were posted today.

Below is his PM to me. I removed the link so no one accidentally clicks it. My pop up blocker blocked it.

That member has been removed, and thanks for the report!

Hopefully all were as smart as you, and didn’t click the link, as you can bet the scammer sent multiple PMs to members!

Stay vigilant people, report PMs with links, and they will be removed promptly.
