16610 Sub A series. To buy or not?

Been looking at these very seriously the last couple weeks. Hours of searching online and no less than 5 stores. Came across this 1999 16610 with box and papers at a pawn shop while on vacation in Florida. Price is $6150 OTD which seems like a VERY good deal to me. Help talk me into (or out of) this!

I go back home to Germany thursday so I need to make my decision tomorrow. Fighting the temptation is proving hard!

Depending on the condition (whether it’s been polished and bracelet condition etc) I have seen nos ones asking for more than that for over a year but not sold.

If it’s in good condition, yes I’d go for it.

What is the service history? Condition? Use these questions to your benefit. Having dealt with PS’s before, walk in with cash and lo ball. They will drop the price.

Thanks. I think Im going to go for it. The watch was already discounted $200 but Im going to see if I can knock another $50 off. Regardless its in great condition and being a complete set I doubt Ill find another deal like this in the current market.

That’s a big purchase from a pawn shop. I would not.

I wouldn’t. I’d rather go for late 16610 with engraved rehaut

I would hardly let it being located at a Pawn shop dissuade me

I'm of mixed opinion buying from a pawn shop, it is a big purchase. But my father in law used to be a partner in a PS and they got some descent Rolex's, I'm up in Atlanta Georgia, so take that for whats its worth.

Next, go for more than $50, don't insult them but I mean have cash in hand and try and knock another $300-500 off. Good luck and safe travels!

I think $5800 OTD cash is what I’d be asking. I think it’s fair. Worse case they say no. You originally were going to ask for $50 off. Your not going to lose a watch over $50. I don’t think they will turn you down making money over $350 either. Especially when it is cash.

I think my dad's is an A serial with SWISS only dial. Cool watch. Pics before you buy might be handy. Just to check with the members if anything is off. Pawn shop isn't an immediate red flag.

Typically pawn shops will have authentic rolexes. They are very savvy when they take on in. Like others mentioned condition service history factor in as a good price or not.

As said by others that is a big purchase from a Pawn shop, but price sounds reasonable. Would suggest to check if there is any close watchmen that could certify the watch as genuine before you buy it.

Nothing wrong with a pawn shop purchase as long as their reviews are good.

Different strokes. I would rather have the A-series with the drilled-through lug holes and luminova dial. Perfect combination IMHO.
