Icon5 Would you buy a Tiffany dial Rolex without papers?

Say, if someone is offering what looks like a genuine vintage Rolex watch with a "Tiffany & Co" dial for sale, without box/papers, will you buy it? Is the fact that it's without box/paper a deal breaker?

On a separate issue, will you buy a watch from a seller who has previously been proven to have offered a counterfeit item (whether knowingly or unwittingly)? And now he is offering something that you can't authenticate by just looking at several well taken pictures?

is it worth the worry and trouble you will have to go through to make the deal? If so then do it, if not then don't -IMHO

1) No - not worth the hassle if you ever decided to move it on again.

2) No again.

The items have been removed pending further scrutiny.

Terrific thread.

This has always been a big problem. Unlike Cartier Rolex watches that are easy to discern originality of, Tiffany added the word "Tiffany & co" themselves to the dials. Therefore we have seen many different fonts and inconsistencies in the signatures.

Tough to find them with original papers. And falsely redone dials are prevalent.

To call all Tiffany Rolexes "incorrect" due to lack of box and papers would be presumptuous.

Original papers make them truly "golden" of course.

Best to err on the side of caution and pay only the same or slightly above what a non-Tiffany dial version would be worth.
