When I picked up a 114060 earlier this month I asked about the Daytona for my 50th B-Day in March. I think my AD was fairly honest when he said they get all the hot SS models in (never on display always in the back), it's up to the owner who gets them. He worked on his case for my sub and I Got it in fairly short order. He said he will start the massage process for the Daytona and see how he does. Bottom line is they do come in.

This extract says it all. So. In simple terms. Rolex UK sales to its AD network were up by over £59m in 2017 compared to 2016. The 10% price increase in November 16 would account for less than half of that. If we accept that margins remained constant, that’s approximately £33m more watches by value sold to the AD network supplied by Rolex uk. At an average price to the UK AD network of £10k per watch that’s 3,300 more watches supplied to the UK AD network in 2017 than in 2016. If anything that average price is probably too high. Whatever number you take, sales by unit volume are up significantly. Conclusion? There’s no shortage. There’s no artificial restrictions on supply. It’s simply that demand has increased beyond expectations and Rolex can’t keep up. As some of us have been saying for some time now.

Thanks for the summary Scott, and yes it's as we suspected, mostly demand driven, and where some ADs have seen less supply it is probably because they are being punished for selling to flippers/greys or they are not selling as well as Rolex expect in their local market.
Just thinking rationally, who would cut supply at a time of high, unprecedented demand. Yes, Rolex are slow and conservative not to capitalise on this by raising supply more, but they are not so deranged as to cut it. |

Only for latecomers who are hearing all sorts of AD supply stories, most of which are cover stories so as not to insult non-VIPs or reveal their punishments for selling to flippers/greys. All of us in the UK since Brexit knew this was all about demand, we saw the change literally happen overnight.

Does anyone has the US and HK figures too? That should give a better picture of the 3 major markets.

My AD, who is my sister's boyfriends uncle, was told by his son's friends father whos is the Rolex manager for a shop somewhere in Asia that there will be no more rolex shippments for the rest of the year and 3 price increases next year, with Ad's being allowed to charge extra if you want to keep the stickers on.

In fact Demand is so high that even DJs are wait listed now in the UK and surely you're not going to tell me that is from a supply cut? No, that is pure redirected demand from the sports models and general Rolex FOMO hype. No country is immune, customers are global and hungry and if they think Oman or Timbuktu have some SS they will go hunt them down from all over the globe, and if Rolex perceive that this is a slow market, as you imply, they will not resupply them and will merely redistribute their SS to other more profitable markets. |

DJs are waitlisted because they are the cheapest watch of the brand too. Demand is the same, production/distribution has changed massively. |
