New to Rolex and new to the forum
Evening all from a sunny London, England.(well not at the moment as its 22:25)
I have just become the proud owner of my very first Rolex. As a bit of background info, im fast approaching the big 40 and decided that as a present to myself i was going to buy a quality watch. As a bit of a noob i didnt bother researching much and instead just looked at the website of the closest AD to me. I decided upon the Explorer 2 white dial and this is where it all gets a bit weird. Ive never owned a watch, let alone a Rolex, so didnt realise there would be waiting lists and stock issues so waded into my local AD with debit card in hand ready to spend. I asked the sales assistant for the watch and was told i would have to go on wait list, now im a spontaneous person and wanted the watch that day so then asked if they had a none date Sub, same reply , would be a wait list, the GMT master 2, same reply. so i was then resigned to the fact I would have to go home empty handed and asked the assistant to take my details for the said waiting list. Less then 5 mins later i received a phone call from the shop advising me that they actually did have an explorer in the shop. So off i went back to buy it. It all felt like i had been tested a bit and the whole thing was a ploy to check if i was a legitimate buyer or just in there to try stuff on. Anyway, the good news is that i now own an explorer 2 white dial which i love and wear every single day. now its decision time for my second purchase ...but thats for another thread Dan |

Congratulations, Dan! Welcome to TRF. I heard from a reliable source that life begins at 40, and the new chapter that you started with your new Rolex seems to support that.
So, are you enjoying your new Rolex? How do you feel about it? |

Congrats on the Polar and happy early 40th birthday! Welcome to TRF!
Btw - if you see the name Polar around here that's just a nickname given to the white dial Explorer II. |

Welcome and congrats. I’m ready for London to be rainy and cold again.
Sounds like the AD was just a bit incompetent if I’m honest. They’ve all got in the habit of immediately dismissing anyone looking for an SS sports model. Enjoy the Polar! |

Welcome and congratulations on a great watch. I’m loving this heat. In 2 months we’ll be moaning it’s too wet/cold/dark/windy!!
