If you buy a $25k jewelry item in a retail store that includes precious and/or semi-precious stones, the margin is generally well over 50% ($12.5k+).

One DJ won’t get you to the top of the list.

Paying MSRP isnt really paying a premium. And I don't think it will get you any higher on a list for a GMT if thats your only purchase.

Yes is it when he can save thousands by buying from DavidSW.

Buy from David:
- Watch still has warranty.
- The only thing 'experience' his wife misses is the snotty attitude at the AD!

OP, buy your own watch elsewhere.

Never pay more than Msrp....ever... so yes if you can get the dj cheaper from David do so, but also remember (before talking him up) that he’ll sell you a gmt for the inflated sum of 15-19k.... so I think you need to be working on the ad hookup as well.

It looks to me like David needs to introduce a loyalty program of his own.

So now i have a choice to make -- DavidSW has the exact configuration (New) that she likes .. for a reasonable price..

lets say its $6500 .. where MSRP on that piece is about $7400.

I am considering paying some sort of premium to get the same watch from the AD, in order to continue building my relationship with that store, so that they *might* call me when they get a GMT in.

How much would you pay to build that relationship? $700 .. $1000 ..

I got laughed out of the store when i offered $7000 for the DJ 28 (including tax).

Not sure how much SS DJ's 28mm are discounted regularly from an AD.
IMHO this internet thing about building a relationship is IMHO more cloud cuckoo land wishful thinking .I would not pay a premium for any Rolex watch or any other, and while there are those willing to pay premium prices.Afraid the grey market will get bigger, and IMHO if you do not buy the DJ and save $900 you must be sixpence short of a shilling.

That AD should have been happy to get $7K --- unless Rolex said no way for less than MSRP.

Smaller size = very, very minimal sales in today's 'desired' market.
My first thoughts too

In Seattle as well as in Silicon Valley, there are much more billionaire than the number of SS BLRO allocated per year, so if one of these VIP whales wants to blow $100,000 on jewelry from the AD, a dude who spent $7,000 has almost no chance to compete for the same watch, i.e Bill Gates vs you, or CEO of Boeing wants a SS BLRO to celebrate the upcoming introduction of 777x airplane....

Thanks for the reality check everyone --

I have decided to put in the order with David -- pocket the $900 + tax .. put that towards some other future watch purchase :-)

I think you will need to add two zeros to build that relationship.
