Gmt 2 discontinuation = increase in value?
Hey guys. So as we all may already know Rolex has discontinued the making of the gmt in general. My question is now that it’s no longer in production will the value of these increase? I have a tt gmt 2 currently so I’m hoping some how it would. I already know the Batman will be positive value anyways.
What’re your thoughts? |

Figure at least a ten-fold increase in value since the GMT's discontinuation. But seriously since all GMTs haven't been discontinued we can plan for at least two-fold for those variants still in production

The GMT is a great watch and great 'main line' seller for Rolex. Given its popularity, it will surely be around for many years to come in whatever guise!

It wasn't discontinued. I recently purchased a brand new 116710LN from the AD and it seems like they won't receive my model anymore but at least for now. From my knowledge, Baselworld only came out with the stainless Pepsi in the jubilee, the BLNR in the jubilee bracelet, and I think a rose gold model? The Rolex website doesn't show the BLNR in the Oyster bracelet nor the black oyster (the one I have). Doesn't mean they'll be gone forever, though. The GMT lives on, whether or not the 116710LN will live is still something we can't say.
If there's any appreciation in value, it's due to the high demand of the stainless steel Rolex watches in general. There are other steel Rolex watches that have appreciated more than the GMT and are still in production (116610LV - Hulk, blue dial Sky Dweller, etc). |
