Audemars Service Question
Hi All - I just sent in my AP 25594 (late 80's early 90's) for service. I got a quote from the AD for >$6k with one of the line items being to replace the movement as "parts for this movement are no longer available."
The movement in my 25594 is perpetual calendar of the time (believe 2224 or 2324). How does AP not have parts for this? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! All my best, A |

Perhaps deal directly with APSC in Clearwater, Florida.
I suspect you’ll pay a lot less than $6K, but there’s never been any guarantee that legacy movements would have spare parts made or kept beyond a certain period of time. Once you’ve made contact with Clearwater, maybe they can wxplain the wherefores and whynots regarding spares for all the references beyond component commonality. |

As an update - just got off the phone with Clearwater and they told me they will no longer service the calibre 2124 movement in my AP
Very upsetting - do you all have any recommendations for an individual who can service this watch? Thank you again. |

I'm unpleasantly surprised that AP does not service a watch that is only 30 years old, specially when it comes to a perpetual calendar...

Wow -- that's very disappointing for a relatively modern AP. Did they perhaps mean that Clearwater itself couldn't service the watch? Or that even AP in Switzerland couldn't service it?

Need to correct a few things, its not a perpetual calendar, just a day-date w/ moonphase. Also the movement is a 2124 |

Time to find a AP specialist BUT hopefully he has access to parts or can fabricate.
good luck

Maybe see if Billy is still alive and well, and working for himself now...

Agreed, this is rather disappointing and worrisome. I would expect a high horology house such as AP to service, have parts, or create parts for ANY watch they have produced just like their counterparts do. It's accountability and should be part of the prestige and history of the brand.

AP won't service it at ANY price? Weird because I know they will service old watches from the Vallée de Joux from brands that haven't existed in 100 years.

OP to address your issue, try to find a good watch maker familiar with AP that can take a look at it, they may be able to fix it or if a part needs to be fabricated they can look into that and I'm sure it will be much much less than a new movement.

If they have a replacement movement then they have the parts

This is where the old school tradesman/artisan comes in play, start doing your homework, seems like you have 2/3 leads already. Good luck

This is potentially a big deal. I was hoping my AP 25960/26022 will be a long term watch that I can pass down to my son. But if they stop servicing a watch after say 30 years (or whatever length of time), then I may need to reconsider and maybe plan on moving to Patek.

As an update, AD called to say AP will replace the movement for some discounted price - still waiting on an offer from them
Whats odd is that I sent the watch in working order but the invoice from AP says "not keeping time"... Not sure I want to replace the movement, anyone have any thoughts on this? |

Watch Central Repair works on APs. They're probably your best alternative since they used to have an AP parts account, especially for you since they're in NY.

Most recent update - AP has cut the price of replacing the movement meaningfully which is a great step in the right direction. Not super excited about replacing the original movement... glad AP did something to make this right
