Welcome to the forum.
It all depends what your own views are on the differences between the two types.
As well as what brand of watch that you are considering buying.
Could you give us some idea?
I suspect that most members within the forum will come down on the side of a mechanical watch, myself included.

Hi Tony,

thanks for your speedy reply. really appreciated it.
hmm, brands in mind would be omega, tag heuer and Breitling? can ask, having an automatic = mechanical watch ya? i was thinking, if were to spend so much on a watch, might as well to get an automatic movement? do correct me if im wrong too. cheers! :)

Firstly, sorry for not reading your title correctly as you did state which brands.Duh!
Out of the 3 that you have listed - which are all excellent brands.
I would probably list them as;
1) Omega - Speedmaster
2) Brietling - Navitimer
3) Tag Heuer
How much are you looking at spending?

if you want quartz, then i'd go with something from breitling with a super quartz movement in it. if mechanical, then i'd look at something from omega. skip tag, if you can afford to.

Based on the limited information, I would say the same thing.

Dan, I have three Omegas. My first was the Seamaster 2254.50, the classic, and it is an automatic. Then I got the Speedmaster which is manual. My last one is an electric blue Seamaster with a quartz movement. I am crazy about all three of my Omegas. The most accurate time keeper is the quartz one. Here are photos of my three. Cheers, Bill P.
