So you got many watches in one :-)

That’s the right way to do it!!

Spot on

I'm going to go with the Explorer for one watch, every conceivable occasion. Understated elegance and tough as hell.

I consider the sub and gmt to basically be the same watch. The GMT has the most complications, is more unique, more comfortable and the pop of colour is fun. Being that you can also swap bezels and bracelets depending on your mood, makes the GMT a no brainier to me.

I’m more of a vintage guy so 16710 it is, although I also own a blnr.

From the picture line up, the blnr really “pop”.

Agree. 5 digit gmt. Looks good on you and inserts + bracelets can change, so your son has a versatile piece to suit his tastes. 16710 w black insert is so close to the classic sub date, it fills that position in a lineup, imo.

Good call. I think I would go 6 digit for a “one watch” scenario. I initially said BLNR, but I think 214270 or 116710LN are my favorite “modern” pieces.

I just got my first Rolex and immediately followed it with a second. The most important factor is that you love it. After that it comes down to what you’d feel comfortable wearing everyday in terms of the level of “bling”. I loved the first Rolex I bought the moment I put it on but realized within a week it was a bit louder then I wanted for daily use (two tone, 116613LN). So I added as steel Yachtmaster (116622 rhodium dial).

I have no regrets whatsoever but if I could only have one it would be the YM I have or the steel GMT II black face/bezel (116710LN). The black/black sub is just a bit too basic and the polished/flat combo on the GMT band is just the right level for everyday use.

Those 5 digits are classic and will continue to rise in value over time.

Sub. I’d get the current model with the glide lock.

I'm not pimping the site but here is the best image I've yet seen of this little beauty:
https://www.reddit.com/r/rolex/comme...tual_34_white/

Perfect proportions, clean, and it doesn't shout. If it's not what you want it's not what you want, but Rolex hit some buttons with this one. I'm completely over the GMT Jubilee. Completely.

Yikes, not a lot of love for the DateJust and old Explorer, which are my top two picks. I guess it’s not unlike everyone trading in their cars for SUVs these days, while I’m still driving a two door.

Given your criteria, I’d choose the DJ. It’s a classic that you can wear everywhere, with anything. I know there’s a bias for sport watches on this forum, and the DJ doesn’t have a chance on the poll, but don’t go with the herd. The fact that you already own it is a bonus.

I think it is a lifestyle choice. Are you a active guy? Sub or Explorer

Traveler? GMT or Explorer

Suit and tie, high end clothes guy? DJ or DD

I’ve owned many rolex models and love them all in different ways.

I have a 16710 Pepsi and it’s a stunning watch.

However the BLNR is and has been my favourite from day 1. It’s a superb watch and that’s where my recommendation would go.

The 116710BLNR and 14060M for their all occasions versatility. They are both serious and conservative yet have hint of playfulness about them.

Thanks to all for the feedback and responses. I didn't foresee the BLNR being such a runaway favorite, but I can't say I disagree -- it's gorgeous, and probably the one I would lean toward myself.
