I don't think their value would come down (much). if you found a good example of it and you are willing to pay the price, and you must have it, then i say go for it.

For me personally, I consider some of the (older) Rolex "ship already sailed", and I am not going to look back and certain not willing to pay the current premium for them.

I am perfectly happy to build new memories with what I currently have.

but that's just me. :)

Probably one of the worst trade options I've seen. I would not do it. SD43 is one of the best modern Rolex in production.

I would not do it just from a value prospective. You are looking to trade one of the most undervalued, non-hyped models with new movement, ceramic bezel and more features for a model that is about as hyped as it gets. Very good odds that the SD jumps in value once the red lettering disappears and who is to say how much room the LV still has to go value wise. At the end of the day though, buy what you want.

A watch someone doesn't enjoy wearing has zero value.

I would keep the SD and let go of the 126610LN. This way you have the amazing 5 digits sub in the exclusivity of the green bezel and an amazing SD anniversary version.
The best of two worlds.

If you can’t hoist the SD , trade it .

Sounds like the seller would sell the Kermit for $15k. Add to the collection.

SD43 > kermit all day, it's the best looking sports watch IMO. The matt dial and red line makes it so special. It's the BMW M3 vs 3 series (sub). Looks similar but feels different :)

I don't know Ciandro, the SD43 has so much more wrist presence, it's hard not to look at. The Sub 16610LV feels flimsy and kind of disappears in comparison. They're very different animals. Although both have their place in a collection, if I have to pick one, it's the SD43 hands down.

If the M3 was bigger, fatter, heavier, but with the same engine as the regular 3 series you might have a point.

That's exactly what he dislikes about the SD43, hence his desire to trade.

Not exactly, I'm talking wrist presence as in visual impact. OP seemed to complain about the weight. The SD43 is only 30g heavier than the Sub41, noticeable yes but hardly a problem.

I get more positive comments from wearing my Kermit than anything else. Specially when watch shopping.

SD43 is a really divided watch - some, like me stumble across it as the perfectly made Rolex. Others find it insufferable to wear, but I think most do appreciate it even if they find it doesn’t sit well on them.

I think it’ll be discontinued in the next couple of years which is another reason to hang onto it, but if your heart wants the green 5 digit you should go with it.

I have both and if I had to decide to only keep one, the SD would go without hesitation.

I would wait. But if your going to trade and add cash get the flat 4 anniversary model. You will always regret not having the one.

Owned an F series Kermit and currently own the SD43 and there is no comparison. I sold the kermit as it was commanding a great price and made a huge profit but to me the SD43 is the best all around diver. The 126 subs are a close second. I would not get rid of the SD43 but if you were to do it and you get the Kermit but find it is not for you, you can source another sea dweller.

New to Rolex? There is modern, vintage and classic. The 16610lv is as classic as it gets, with 5 dig attributes and a maxi dial. Might seem backwards to you, but most of the new members here seem to only like the ceramic, modern, popular watches.

This. The shape and features of 5-digit reference AND maxi dial AND the smaller more slender style AND that green (i don’t like the ceramic green) just made me fall in love!!

Anddd if that green was ever too much or you want a change, you can easily swap a black bezel in with maxi dial!

Congrats OP! Now go change the signature in your profile!!

“So happy, I can’t stop looking at my wrist”.

“””“It’s pretty weird. I never really consider it until I put it on. The watch has a magical ability to sit even and balanced on my wrist (7.25”). It is incredibly gorgeous and the thickness is there but you immediately love it. It’s not excessive. You start thinking why you even ever wanted a Sub: sea-dweller is the real deal.
It’s one of those things i read on forums without truly understanding the cult around the SD and now i do understand.””””

Now 4 months later, after all that talk, it’s too heavy.

Just admit, you enjoy the chase more than the watch.
