What watch to wear for formal event
SD, LV, Pepsi - nor the others…ring out as a formal dress option.
Since the event is tonight no time to get a pre-owned Calatrava? Gratuitous photo… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Rule number one: wear what you like!
For me, of the list, I’d go AP for reasons already mentioned multiple times on thread. Also, aligned with others on thread, for formal events, I prefer dress watches. I’ll be attending a wedding in few months, in the capacity of a distant guest - so I think I *might wear a Royal Oak. But if I were anything closer than a distant guest, I would wear a proper dress watch on a black leather strap. I’ll probably wear a dress watch to the event in few months, too. I like old school decorum, but I’m old and cranky these days, so take that with a grain of salt. |

New rule: there are no rules but people who know the old rules are the ones who will notice. Are any of those type of people’s opinions important to you for whatever reason? That will guide you. |

Whatever you wear, wear it with confidence. Few people will notice or care.

Lol I wish. I’ve been dealing with covid the past week and abstaining from alcohol for obvious reasons. I did go ahead and have 2 beers for thanksgiving but my sense of taste is still a bit wonky so it wasn’t really all that enjoyable. And yes before anyone asks I’m fully vaccinated (Pfizer).

Good for you. I might wear my Submariner in an upcoming wedding too. I have to be honest here. I just don’t like dress watches. A DJ41 is very nice. I might get one of those, but I’m not sure they’re in the same category as a dress watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Use the 15400. It'll look clean and crisp especially if you're wearing a black tie event or dark suit.

What watch to wear for formal event
Conventionally, would be no watch. A gentleman doesn’t need to know the time at an event.
Of your list, the AP 15400. Nobody follows those Edwardian rules any more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Never wear a diving watch or sports watch to a formal event. What are you a peasant? Now a bust down two tone datejust with baguette bezel and pave dial. That screams class

What watch to wear for formal event

Peasant? LOL! Only on TRF would someone classify someone else as a peasant! Wearing a ploprof, an orange Doxa, or a Seiko Turtle with a Tuxedo is definitely a faux pas, no doubt. I wouldn’t wear my blue dial Omega Seamaster Diver 300M with a Tux either, but I would wear my black dial Submariner. Probably not ideal, but I think it works. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Blue dial vs black dial and Seamaster is a big watch. Definitely sticks out more. Black Submariner is smaller and more discreet. I’d wear it with a Tux. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Tucson, formal? Where what ever matches your good boots and bolo tie the best.
