Bought in 1979 with 10 percent off. The watch had to be ordered as I wanted a blue dial. When it came in the hour markets were gold not silver. The SA asked me if I still wanted it. I thought it looked good so I said okay .
It was serviced about 1986 because I thought that was something you were supposed to do.
I stopped wearing it daily about 1995.

My first sports Rolex is the 116710LN. My first ever Rolex is a steel datejust 36 mm and I gave it as a gift to my father.

T series 14060 bought from an AD in 1997 for £1680. No longer have it and every single day I think about it, I regret selling it.

Only one I've ever truly regretted selling.

Learnt a valuable lesson to ones self - don't sell your first Rolex.

It was a 5-digit Explorer 2 black dial. It was not a popular watch at the time but I liked it. I remember a dealer calling it a "dog" when I asked to trade it in for a Submariner.

First was a birthday gift from my husband the year we were married. Lady DJ 31 with fluted bezel, blue dial and stick markers. AD took $1,100 off. It was the last discount I ever got

116710LN back in 2013. Got a 20% discount on it from AD at the time. Was offered a 116610LV with the same 20% and I went for the GMT instead. My wife will still rag on me for it. Ended up getting the LV in 2017 at full retail.

Bought this in 2013. My first.

No hype back then and my personal tastes have always directed me to watches with interesting dials or lugs... I've never owned a black dial sub, which I still cant quite believe given I love collecting these. It will most likely be a 14060M or maybe a 5513.

Back then it was in the window, alongside the maxi dial 50th anniversary LV sub. I preferred this one with the new case, bracelet, ceramic bezel and green dial.

It was nice to get a 12% discount too.

My next few watches were also colour based, the Pepsi GMT (5 digit) and 116613LB (blue dial TT).

My first higher-end watch from 1988 to 1992 was a Cartier Santos. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos here (all in a paper album elsewhere) of my first Rolex which was a 1992 Sub TT black dial. I then bought this around 1997 and still have it today. It’s had two new bezels in its lifetime and one 12 a clock side entire bracelet. The 6 o clock side is original and wasn’t really stretched/damaged. It’s been serviced 3 times in the interim too.

This is the first Rolex I purchased that started my relationship with my AD back in the 90s, I was in my 20s and still wear it today.

What was your first Rolex?

First was a 36mm OP. Similar to a watch I own now.
