Congratsm absolute stunner in platinum.

As a follow-up to my earlier question about legibility of the steel version, I finally made a decision and went for steel. Legibility of gold may be marginally better, but I feel more comfortable wearing the steel one, also as I wear my watches regularly/e.g. also in public transport etc., so appreciate the "stealth mode" of steel.

Was a big leap for me but haven't regretted a single second, just so perfect in size, design, lugs, movement & finishing, dial, hands...

I’m really contemplating getting a CDV,
But the price point for a steel watch is pretty steep. Are all owners pleased with your purchases? Any rose gold owners out there?

As a steel owner, I can only re-iterate that I am pleased with my purchase, but fully understand your point - after all it's a manual wind chronograph in a steel case at 39mm in size and no (integrated) steel bracelet...

But it remains a piece you have to like for what it is (and there's a lot to like!), and not for the potential insta fame or other prestige that comes with other watches at this price point.

Good luck with your decision!

Slow down here boys. I have enough holes in my wallet

Even worse a dealer I’ve dealt with a few times has a NIB steel and I’ve come so close to adding. This is a special watch for a man/woman of taste. One if not many as they say.

The SS movement is finished to the same standard as the platinum. Mind-blowing how Vacheron can sell at that price with the hand-finishing involved, and I think your dealer would be able to sell it lower than Vacheron's cost plus. Good luck deciding.

Is the boutique giving discounts on any references these days? Worth to ask?

It really is a great value. Above all else I just like the durability and everyday nature of SS. I added the 1921 WG recently because I found one at a price I couldn’t refuse but part of me wants the CDV as well because I just love a good chrono. I think he wants 37 for it. Retail is around 43 and change. Pt is another level of course.

To be clear I was speaking of a secondary dealer not an AD. Pretty sure a client bought it as a relationship piece and flipped it.

Same here. The only sports watches in my collection are real beaters. As in "let's do some construction work" type.

You can tone down most dress watches with appropriate straps. Combine that with neat t-shirts and nice jeans and you're golden.

For those considering a CdV but concerned about the smaller size on paper…..

I have a 7 1/4-3/8” wrist wearing this 38.5mm watch. On the wrist, the lugs and pushers give the “smaller” dimensions of the watch a larger appearance. I’ve fallen hard for this one.
