Was waiting to hear from you in this thread I'm going to submit an anonymous tip to that Hoarders reality show about you.

To the OP: No, I don't think I could be a one-and-done. I think five would be the right number. Maybe 4 if I think critically & want a car instead.

I wear the same six digit Rolex every day and have done for well over a year. And, yes I only own one of them!

I often wonder how people count when this question is asked though. I think of myself as having three watches but that’s “nice” watches. If I actually emptied out all of my drawers, I’d pull out old watches like Seikos, a random military watch I picked up, a gshock, garmin, Apple Watch, grandparents watches etc etc.

We don’t have to count those do we…?

I’m in my mid 50s and have kept every single watch I have ever owned since my parents got me my first Swiss watch when I was 12. I can’t imagine any one of them not in my possession. I had them all out of the safe over Christmas to get a birdseye view of them, and my adult daughter decided she wanted to wear the Rado distar my parents bought me for high school graduation. My other daughter decided she wants to wear my Omega Polaris Titan that I bought in Cayman Islands when I was a punk. When I’m long gone, my kids and grandkids will be wearing my Omegas and Rolexes. Who am I to let a stranger own them.

Geesh! Thanks, Janet, for outing me….. I don’t think that’s quite the same thing. It’s not like they are Prada, or Louis Vuitton. It’s more like Converse and shell top Adidas. So, really a bit of a sneaker head, I guess. It’s been quite awhile since I bought a new pair. Hmmmmnnn!
Gotta go shopping, suddenly.

Possibly something to do with how Rolex sells watches recently. Harder to get the single watch that you may want, so you have to buy another model first.

Or, you wait for the model you want and it feels great, then the AD asks "what's next on your list?". You mention something else you like and some time later you get another call, and you take the watch because the "opportunity" is there.

Just some guesses, who knows what the truth is, though.

Doing a month long one watch challenge. Call it an exercise in Asceticism. I would say it’s possible with the right watch. My Pelagos 39 has performed admirably in all use cases. When the month of March is up, I will return to my sentimental pieces, but I may very well consolidate my lesser worn pieces. If I ditch my lesser worn micros, I’d have a decent down payment on a black FXD.

I’m on 9 with no plans to buy any more (at the moment) and no plans to reduce.
4 x Rolex, 2 x Omega, 2 x IWC and 1 Blancpain.
A good mix of styles but mostly ‘sport’ watches.

No. I would instantly have sellers remorse! Even though I usually wear the latest watch for months on end, until the next one

I am down to one after selling others to fund a home purchase. Now that that's all done, let's just say I am spending A LOT of time in the classifieds section.

I’m down to 3 (GMT Pepsi, Sub, and JLC Master Moon). I considered consolidating to 2 watches (1 Rolex), but realized I enjoy them too much and will enjoy giving them to my son and daughter one day.

It is not an issue of whether or not I could do it or not do it...I simply don't have any desire to do it. I am a bit of a minimalist in most areas, but watches take up so little space and give me so much joy, I don't really see the point in going back to only having one nice watch...

I’ve had all of the Poques, and the 2 6138s completely restored, by a vintage Seiko expert, Sir Alan, in the UK. I heard he was the best, so sent them all across the Pond, and back. They are not being sold!

I've had lots of vintage Seikos in my day, but I'm always a little hesitant to actually wear them, which is crazy because they're built like tanks. I had a 6309 that was 40+ years old, had never been serviced, and ran just fine. Good idea holding onto them, especially after having them restored.

Every Sunday, I rotate into another one of my watches. I am excited for the next one each week, even though they are the same 'ol watches that I own. I don't think you get that with having just one and putting it on day after day.

Yes, I used to be a one watch guy in the late 70's thru the mid 90's. Then got attacked by the collectors virus. But gifted many and back down to one. Finally at peace once again.

It's nice having one watch. Pretty much wear it 24/7 with no issues. I reflected on the many I have owned in the past. Saving up to buy one special watch for myself.

I don't know if I can consider myself a watch collector, I don't think so, I like watches mainly because of the design, but one piece wouldn't be enough for me.

Personally, I wouldn't go diving with a PM watch, so I need at least one a SS for such casual wear.

I own GMT-Master II (Batgirl), YG Submariner (Bluesy), Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43mm and Breitling Superocean Héritage Chronograph 46mm.
