Yes the bruise is from the Sub!

The most comfortable Watch I have owned is the Milgauss or a Yachmaster, soft no sharp edges, even the Daytona has a smooth case.

And No I don't wear them tight, rather loose!

I mean absolutely zero disrespect or flippancy with this reply, but is the reason you are getting the bruise because you wear it too loose ?
If you wore it a little tighter above your ulnar, you might not be wedging the case between your hand and forearm, or be pushing the crown in to the back of your hand ? (new member so can't post links to pics)

I like ALL variants of Subs, but my personal favourite is the 11 series as I actually like the "supercase" (makes it look more "muscular"), but I also prefer the slightly narrower bracelet/clasp, and I like the older movement.

Well, nevertheless the intention of the post was positive, and for the most part, as were a lot of the responses.

However, it seems that the negative sentiment *still* prevails, and folks continue to try and find the negative in everything just to start an argument.

12 is the series, followed by the model, followed by metal variant, followed by color when applicable: LN, LV, BLRO, etc...

There's a lot of truth there. Being critical of Rolex isn't the worst thing, even on TRF, but yeah I personally see your point. I briefly owned a 12XXXX sub, and compared it to the 11XXXX in hand, and I couldn't really tell the difference. To argue the lugs, size (40.5 vs 40) I agree is a difficult argument to make. However, going from 4 or 5 digit to now is a HUGE difference. At times (to me), it feels like two totally different model lines.

some very interesting comments. Seems like there are quite few out there who prefer the 11 series like me.

What surprised me a bit is the ciritisim of the new movement. I actually didnt even think about that. The new movement so far has been amazing and this is my third watch with 32 series movement and never had any issue.

I haven't read anything negative in this thread. The move from the maxi case to current case was a big leap for Rolex and understandingly many people prefer the older model, and some don't. It's all good.

I suppose your frame of reference is different than others, but I don’t see this thread as scraping the bottom of the barrel …

This is exactly what WIS do, we discuss the minutiae of our watches. It’s usually a spirted but respectful debate with folks on opposing sides.

It sure beats talking nicknames and value threads IMHO

I prefer 5 digits overall. But between the two references cited I definitely prefer the 12 series. The 11 was just a bit too blocky.

I’ve always liked the LV. For me the 5 digit I didn’t care much for the maxi dial in the smaller case (although in person it’s not too bad and admittedly pretty cool), the 11 series was just too green and IMO just looked a bit toyish because of it. The 12 series LV with the dial back in black, and a slightly larger case than a 5 digit to sort of balance out the maxi dial is about the perfect LV variant to me. Although I do wish the indices were ever so slightly smaller… I feel sometimes the round of the indices looks bigger than the round part of the hour hand and it sort of bugs me, but to me it’s the best yet proportionally since the 5 digits.

Admittedly I don't like much about the 6 digits. I don't like the ceramic bezel and the way the pip sticks up just asking the knocked off. The slab sides and sharp edges. The bloat that took over everything; case, face, hands... Just a loss of refinement in looks. The clasp is so large because (for the sub at least) they had to incorporate enough adjustment to make it functional as a dive extension instead of the more elegant Tudor solution of a small, folding dive extension and a smaller, more reasonable clasp. I can't argue with sales and popularity but just prefer the looks of the 5 digit. I also prefer the more integrated look of the 5 digit clasp but will concede the dive extension is close to useless and adjusting the fit takes a sec with a toothpick.

I don’t think it was “ruined”. The watch is more jewelry than tool watch for sure. The price, the distribution methods, the refinement, the branding have all advanced it to this stage over the last 25years.

It happened most significantly between 116610 and 126610.

I have them. I feel they are too large, too shiny, too expensive. But hard to pull the trigger on an old one at similar price bc I actually go “sub-marine” with them.

Would have preferred a 38-39mm model, thinner, less shine polished, basically more tool like and for it to stay below $5000. Love love love the bracelet refinement. End links are no longer loose. And come on, the glidelock is world class. But really we are all hauling around deep sea dwellers at 41mm when compared to the 80s and 90s.

I have the 126610LV for almost a year now. For me the the color of the bezel (mk2) has been the main attraction but with time i have started to focus bit more on the other elements of the watch (like case and bracelet).

I feel the case on the new feel bit too vintage inspired. I for one dont mind bit more modern styling. And I also think I prefer the 20mm bracelet of the last model.

Does anyone else think the same?

I’ve never handled or tried on the 11 series, so could only give my take on the 12. I wish I still had my 5 digit Sub. Maybe I need to find another.

I love my 124060, but like most things we obsess over, there are a few things I'd change.

1. I'd keep everything same regarding case and lug shape, but I'd trim down the case to 39mm. I'd also change the bracelet width to 20mm at the case, and 1mm narrower at the clasp, clasp obviously to match.

2. I would swap the 3230 for the 3130 movement.

3. I would like Rolex to include a rubber strap alongside the wonderful Oyster bracelet, like Tudor does for the P39.
