Tech Help? Rolex Cellini 2000

I have a Rolex Cellini built in 2000. I wear it only to work five days a week. It is super thin and very clean. Once a year it stops working. The company that fixes it said that if it gets bumped, banged or dropped, it could cause the watch to stop. It might get bumped but definitely not dropped. Does this sound normal to you for a Rolex to experience this issue?
